Just hemkommen från Lucinda Williams. På gott och ont hade dom flyttat den från Chinateatern till Berns. Mycket folk var det. Bitvis ruggigt bra men det var lite för många "gitarrmanglingsrock" i rad. Inte så att det var dåligt men det blev lite enformigt. Å andra sidan gjorde hon några grymma versioner av några av mina favoriter, bl a en oerhört gripande Sweet Old World. EN sak som slog mig, men jag hade väl fel förväntningar, var hur positiv hon var. Hade mest hört att hon var butter och trulig men inte ikväll i alla fall.

Trevlig kväll med knökfullt hus (Tack Lasse:-) på Nalen. Inte fantastiskt, det var en svacka i mitten, men riktigt bra och kul. Fascinerad av att så väldigt många kunde ALLA texterna. Jag brukar känna mig fånig när jag sjunger med men här var det mer än OK :-)

Jag vet att Mats Möllers skiva har fått mycket lovord och jag har haft den ett bra tag men den är knäckande bra. Alla pratar, med all rätt, om Jakob Hellmans "... och stora havet" men Möllers känns nästan lika bra. Nu är dessutom en ny platta på väg.

Tänk att det är så svårt att släppa gamla hjältar. Dom kan göra en, två, tre, fyra dåliga skivor i rad men man fortsätter att köpa allt dom ger ut för att dom en gång betytt mycket för en. Och hoppet finns hela tiden att just den nya skivan skall vara vändningen. Så läser man en bra recension av skivan och, trots att man förra gången bestämt sig att nu slutar jag köpa hans skivor, så är man där ändå. Ibland räcker det å andra sidan att det finns två-tre hyfsade spår så är det ju värt det. För egen del har det varit alltifrån Graham Parker till Elliott Murphy, John Hiatt, Jackson Browen och Elvis Costello.
En gammal hjälte som jag tycker har hållit genom alla år är Paul Weller. The Jam var ett band som jag blev vuxen med, Style Council gjorde ett antal grymma singlar och hans soloskivor är alltifrån "helt OK" till riktigt bra. Herr Alarik presenterade för någon dag sedan ett par grymma länkar på sin blogg. Själv hittade jag två gamla band med BestOf. (se bilden ovan

För er som har möjlighet, missa inte spelningen på Katalin i Uppsala torsdag 4 oktober.
Tarantula Waltz är svart, smärta och inbundet, Miss Li är extrovert, livsbejakande och skithäftigt. Inte men kopp te egentligen. Det är en blandning av engelsk MusicHall, 30-tals gladjazz och STAX-soul. Det är Håkan Hellström och det är Dexy's Midnight Runners. Det rockar fett och kickar stjärtar så in åt helvete. Man måste ha ett stort öppet sinne för musik och för musiken som "en helande kraft" men har ni det så ska ni faan gå till Katalin !!!
Idag är det på dagen 40 år sedan Woody Guthrie dog. Vet inte om han kanske betyder mer som "idé", och det han stod för, än den han var. Många har läst in mycket i hans liv. Läs hans Bound for Glory men kanske framför allt någon av de biografier som finns om honom t ex Ramblin' man av Ed Cray
